Join ASHRAE and AIA for an in-depth discussion rated walls and how to protect penetrations thru them. It’s not just about understanding the code, it’s about applying the theory to life safety. We will have an Architect, an Engineer and a fire damper manufacture to cover everything from what walls go where to how the dampers are constructed to protect these walls.

About the Speakers:

Kris Schnitgen, PE, is the mechanical engineering department head for KLH Engineers, a national consulting engineering firm based out of Cincinnati. He has designed HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems for the healthcare, education, and other market segments.

Richard Peksa is an Application Engineer for commercial dampers at Greenheck with extensive knowledge of lifesafety dampers, along with the codes and standards that drive their use in commercial applications. He has presented on life safety dampers across the United States to various organizations focusing on code compliance, applications, and installations.

Aaron Nickerson has more than a decade of experience providing architectural services, including programming, schematic design, design development, code research, construction documents, and construction administration. In addition to being registered in Kentucky and six other states, Aaron is a Kentucky certified interior designer and a LEED Green Associate. His increasingly responsible experience includes two federal prisons each with construction costs in excess of $180 million. Aaron's industry involvement includes the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME).
